Baseball legend David Ortiz, in partnership with Somos Care Network, delivered meals to Medicaid patients in the Bronx.

People dealing with chronic illnesses get meals at their doorstep through the program. The former Red Sox designated hitter is hoping to help spread awareness to those eligible.

Somos says thousands of people who are eligible miss out on the service because of a lack of awareness.

“Just having the opportunity to be able to give back to the community, something so special ... because you eat good, when you eat good food, you're gonna stay longer," Ortiz said.

Before the meals were delivered on Thursday, a forum was held with national health leaders at Somos headquarters.

The organization has also partnered with Food Is Medicine Marketplace to deliver pre-made meals across the Bronx.
