Westchester County hosts biannual Diverse Abilities Job and Resource Fair
The event promotes inclusion for individuals with diverse abilities by directly connecting those with a wide range of unique strengths and capabilities with potential employers.

Westchester County held its first biannual Diverse Abilities Job and Resource Fair on Wednesday at the Westchester County Center.
Around 400 to 500 applicants are estimated to have attended the event. It promotes inclusion for individuals with diverse abilities by directly connecting those with a wide range of unique strengths and capabilities with potential employers.
"It's very hard to sum up, you know, everything you are, and everything you've been, on one piece of paper, but it's even more difficult if you haven't been given the opportunity originally. So, this is to help them to make those personal connections and to feel good about the experience," said Shari Rosen Ascher, director of policies & programs with the Small Business and Chambers of Commerce, Westchester County.
Seventy exhibitors, including prospective employers and resource providers, attended. One included Finding Freedom Westchester, which offers a variety of programs to all, including an employment readiness and job skills class.
"We're offering the class to people who may benefit from a little extra assistance and training, from getting from point A to point B as far as successfully seeking employment," said Brady Becklo with the organization.
Yes She Can, a non-profit that teaches individuals with autism transferable job skills, was also in attendance.
The county will host the job fair again in October, date pending.
