Victim of assault in Rye Brook has died

A Rye Brook woman who was the victim of an assault last week has died, according to Westchester County.

The 37-year-old woman had been found in her residence on Westview Avenue on March 30.

Police had responded for a report of a dispute.

She was found inside unconscious and not breathing.

She had been in critical but stable condition.

A county spokeswoman said a cause of death had not been determined and was pending toxicology tests.

Her name has not been released.

Hugo Soto-Diaz, who lived at the residence, was charged with attempted murder.

The 30-year-old is being held at the Westchester County Jail.

The Westchester DA's office could not comment if charges would be upgraded.
