A threat prompted a precautionary delay at Hicksville High School Tuesday morning around 6 a.m. Police have since cleared the building and determined the threat was unfounded.

District officials said students already on school buses were temporarily rerouted to Hicksville Middle School while Nassau County Police along with Emergency Services, the Bomb Squad, and Homeland Security conducted a full safety sweep.

Families were notified of a two-hour delay, and all students remained safe and supervised.

Police later determined there was no credible threat, and students were instructed to return to the high school and report to Period 3 at 9:40 a.m. Students who were at the middle school were walked back by staff.

This is the second school threat on Long Island this week.
