Automated camera enforcement fines begin Friday on the Bx22 and Bx2 routes.

Fines can be distributed if your vehicle is improperly using bus ways, blocking bus stops or illegally double parking.

The fines will start at $50 and can scale up to $250 for repeat offenders and Bronx have mixed opinions on those prices.

"That can be a little steep but if you make it too lenient then people won't care," says Domingo.

"That's too much! Yeah that's too much," says MaryAnn.

The MTA has enforced this on 54 routes across the city.

More than 1,400 buses now have automated camera enforcement and the MTA says those routes have increased in speed between 5% and 30%.

One Bronx resident said they experienced a bus having to wait for a car illegally parked and says that's why he's for this enforcement.

"You should be mindful.. ya know? If you have a car, you can go somewhere else," says Andy.
