An arrest has been made after an alleged hate-motivated assault at a gas station in Mamaroneck.

Police say a 22-year-old man told them he was in line at the shop when a man from North Carolina asked if he had a green card and told him to go back to his country.

Detectives say surveillance video shows Carl Jones spitting on the victim and choking him.

They say the younger man then hit the 57-year-old in self-defense. Jones then punched the victim in the face and threw him to the floor.

The victim was treated by EMS at the scene.

Jones is facing multiple charges including assault.
