If you're looking for a hired ride this holiday, Douglas Schwartz with the Long Island Limousine Association says to be careful accepting offers for car services where you don't know if the driver has the proper license or insurance.

"I see people with families. You're putting children in cars, taking rides to the airport, where you don't have any idea,” says Schwartz.

Schwartz says a commercially licensed driver is insured to cover a passenger's medical expenses in case of a crash. They go through background checks and take driver's safety courses.

Professional drivers told News 12 that it's important to know who is driving you and to also make sure that the car you're riding in is safe.

The Long Island Limousine Association has set up a new hotline to report uncertified drivers. You can call 631-944-8448 or email ContactLILALongIsland@gmail.com.
