Surf For All, a nonprofit, held an “open outing” Monday in honor of Connor Troy, a Long Beach boy who died of a neuromuscular disease in 2013.
The surf session allowed adults and children with disabilities to get on surfboards and catch some waves.
Emma Greenfield has cerebral palsy. She goes to the session every year and tells News 12 it’s something she really looks forward to. She said having this opportunity “means more than anything” she can possibly say.
Joe Slaninka is an assistant teacher at the Henry Viscardi School. He has spina bifida and says he learned at an early age that he can do more than most people thought he could, and he wants to give his students the chance to explore other areas of recreation.
