The Town of Smithtown is finally able to clear a mound of trash covering the front of a Lake Grove home.

The homeowner first got a property complaint for debris in the yard in September.

"It wasn't to this extent, there's been garbage on the front, but now it's off the charts," says Melissa Flynn, of Lake Grove.

The Town of Smithtown public safety director says the situation exacerbated when Suffolk County police began investigating a dispute between the homeowner and a contractor. It's unclear exactly what happened, but the homeowner's belongings were thrown from the house into the yard.

The homeowner told News 12 he could not speak due to an ongoing case.

The town was able to get permission from the homeowner on Wednesday to clear the heaps of mess.

Suffolk County police arrested 40-year-old Anthony Connor, of Lake Grove, in connection to the situation. He is charged with engaging in home improvement without a license.
