A 54-year-old man drowned Monday in Hampton Bays, according to the Southampton Town Police Department.

Police say Peter Dzakonski was pulled from the water near Dune Road by someone who began CPR at around 3 p.m. Dzakonski died at the hospital.

Southampton police say another man also experienced chest pain and difficult breathing at the same beach. He was also taken to the hospital.

This comes as lifeguards at Jones Beach tell News 12 that they have made dozens of rescues over the weekend.

There has been a high rip current advisory in effect since Friday.

Hither Hills State Park was closed to swimmers on Monday.
