High rip current risk in effect for Long Island beaches

The National Weather Service has issued a high rip current risk for Nassau and Suffolk beaches through Monday evening.
"The water is really cold, and the waves are really rough," one swimmer at Jones Beach said to News 12.

"Rip currents can pop up and take you by surprise, so you should always swim near a lifeguard stand," says supervising lifeguard Cary Epstein.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation also issued an air quality health advisory for Long Island. It led to the cancellation of tours at the Huntington Lighthouse.
"We only have solar panels, so we rely on the breeze to keep the place comfortable, so that's why we decided not to have the tours today," added Joanne Graziano of the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society.
