A group of teachers in Garden City Saturday walked in memory of one of their own and to raise money for cancer research.

The support for "Team Kenney" was on full display at the 15th annual "GC for a Cure" 5K Run and Walk.

Participants said Garden City Primary School teacher Christine Kenney died about a month ago from breast cancer.

"She was always the first one to sign up to volunteer for this race," said race director Kerry Calvert. "We've lost two teachers over the last 11 years and its important for our community to come together to make a difference."

Organizers said "GC for a Cure" has raised over $300,000 for cancer research in the last 14 years.
