Mastic Beach man accused of fatally shooting man outside bar due in court
Prosecutors say Joseph Scalafani shot Alex Smith as he was leaving a bar in Mastic Beach. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Mastic Beach man accused of fatally shooting a man outside of a bar last May is due back in court Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Joseph Scalafani shot Alex Smith as he was leaving a bar in Mastic Beach. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith was the younger brother of Mastic's Joe "The Beast" Smith - a former Long Island light heavyweight boxing champion.
Scalafani was found by police in Florida a month after the shooting. He was then extradited back to Long Island.
His brother and friend are also facing charges for helping him hide from police, according to authorities.
