The man charged in a deadly hammer attack in Sunset Park appeared in court Wednesday.
Police say Liyong Ye fatally hit 43-year old Zhao Zhao in the head with a hammer, as well as striking and injuring the woman's 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter, on Aug. 23, 2023.
Ye has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.
If convicted, he faces 25 years to life in prison.
