In light of the Hamas terror attack on Israel, Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Twitter Saturday that New Yorkers can expect an increase in police presence near Jewish communities and places of worship.

Members of the Jewish community are celebrating Simhat Torah, a holiday that celebrates the conclusion of the annual cycle of public torah readings.

The governor also said on social media that her office is in close communication with Jewish leaders and the FBI. So far, said, there are no threats to New York at this time.
