The mother of a Mastic Beach teen has confirmed to News 12 Monday that her son has died after he was hit by Suffolk County patrol car over the weekend.

Police say Anthony Stinson was riding his bike when he was hit by a patrol car Saturday night in Shirley. It happened at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Adobe Drive.

Detectives say a patrol officer was driving southbound on William Floyd Parkway with lights and sirens activated when the teen crossed the intersection.

The police vehicle struck the teen and then collided into two parked cars. Police say the officer was responding to another call at the time of the crash.

Stinson's mother says he died at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. She says his organs will be donated to people awaiting transplants.

The crash is under investigation.
