Some programs, including pre-K and speech therapy, are being cut at the Wainscott Common School District.

The small East End district is being forced to spend less because voters failed to pass its budget two times.

A contingency plan was taken up by the board Tuesday evening, which is over $1 million less than what was originally proposed.

The district is just one school with first, second and third graders. Older children are sent to East Hampton schools.

Under the contingency plan, employees without a contract will not receive raises and there will be no field trips.
