A former NYPD detective from Holtsville has pleaded guilty to fraud.

The attorney general says 53-year-old Andrew Albate admitted to wrongfully collecting over $156,000 in disability benefits from Social Security.

It happened between 2019 and 2022 when Albate claimed he was unable to work because of an on-the-job injury suffered in 2003.

The attorney general says Albate was actually working as a general manager at Formula One Motorsports, a motorcycle dealership in Oakdale.

Albate agreed to pay all the money back. If he does not, he will be sentenced to one year in jail.
