Police say hate speech was found on playground equipment at Estella Park in Seaford on Monday.
According to the spokesman for the Town of Hempstead, immediately after the offensive graffiti was discovered, town employees began removing it.
In photos sent to News 12, the graffiti can be seen across large sections of the playground equipment.
The Hempstead Town spokesman said in a statement to News 12, “The Town of Hempstead has a zero-tolerance policy regarding all forms of hate crimes, graffiti and vandalism. Immediately after discovery, town employees began removing the graffiti from the property."
Nassau police say they are investigating this as a criminal mischief case.
One of the neighbors told News 12 that this was not the first time Estella Park has been vandalized. Nassau police say they are unaware of any other recent issues.
The spokesman for the town says he too is unsure of previous issues, but says he is sure they'll look further into it Tuesday.
