The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) voted unanimously to approve a lease transfer of the Nassau Coliseum to Las Vegas Sands.

The vote comes a little over a week after the Nassau Legislature voted to transfer the Coliseum's lease to Las Vegas Sands.

This was the next step in the county's process for the proposed resort and possible casino for the Nassau Hub.

The proposed $4 billion project would include hotel rooms, a performance space and restaurants.

"This is what we were looking for and we're happy to continue on with the process for this property," says Dan Baker, an attorney representing Las Vegas Sands.

There are still more steps in the process, including zoning approval from the Town of Hempstead and a gaming license from the state to build a casino, which has not been given.

In a statement to News 12 Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Town of Hempstead said, "The Hempstead Town Board will carefully and thoroughly review any and all proposals that come before it. The board members will weigh the impacts of proposals on the environment, traffic, air quality, parking, as well as the overall suburban character of local communities."

The attorney representing Las Vegas Sands says they are moving on to the design process as they seek approval from the Town of Hempstead.

There is no timeline on when the state will make a decision on the gaming license.
