A small business in Sayville is preparing for a challenge from a Whole Foods Market coming to the SunVet Mall in Holbrook.

Drew Alexander, of Cornucopia Natural Foods, it's unfortunate that a business is coming nearby that they will be in direct competition with.

"But at the same time, I think if someone looks at what we offer - we're offering just as good, if not better," Alexander says.

President of the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce Eilene Tyznar says small businesses like Cornucopia Natural Foods have something that the corporate competition doesn't.

"We have individual customer service - we know people by name," Tyznar says. "You come here to Cornucopia, and everybody knows your name, everybody knows what you like."

Tyznar says developing the empty space where the SunVet Mall stands could survey as a reminder of why small businesses are so important.

"We have to really ensure that we keep the small business owners going because we put the money back into our community," Tyznar says.
