Arbor Day celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care.
Below are some events being held across Long Island:
PSEG Long Island Celebrates 150 years of Arbor Day with Beautification Projects in Nassau and Suffolk
WHAT: PSEG Long Island employee ambassadors will plant trees to beautify public sites in Nassau and Suffolk counties and help customers learn how to lower their energy use, save money and reduce Long Island's carbon footprint. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and the PSEG Foundation, PSEG Long Island will also give away 50 energy saving trees at each location to customers who come to learn about energy efficiency and financial assistance programs available to those struggling with bills.

WHY: Supporting the environment is an important way of supporting the communities PSEG Long Island serves. The 150th anniversary of Arbor Day is also an opportunity to educate customers on how to plant wire-friendly trees that can beautify their properties and save them money on their energy bills.
Officials & Environmental Advocates to Plant Trees on Arbor Day
Oyster Bay, NY - Supervisor Joseph Saladino and his colleagues on the Town Board will join with environmental advocates to plant trees in celebration of Arbor Day. The trees will be planted to further beautify the community at this local neighborhood park.

Conservation Tree Committee of the Village of Patchogue to Hold Arbor Day Planting and Ceremony
The Conservation Tree Committee of the Village of Patchogue will be holding an Arbor Day Planting and Ceremony on April 29th at 3:00 PM on the property immediately north of its Parks and Recreation Building at 380 Bay Ave. The Village was recently the recipient of a Fast Start Grant from the NY State Urban Forestry Council in the amount of $1000 in support of the event.
Holding an Arbor Day Planting and Ceremony is one of several requirements that the village is seeking to fulfill in order to qualify as a Tree City USA.
Town of Huntington to Plant 200 Trees for Arbor Day with Covanta and Local Students in Huntington Station
Huntington Station – Supervisor Ed Smyth and Town officials will be joined by Covanta and local students to plant 200 trees at Koster Park in Huntington Station for Arbor Day on Friday, April 29 at 4:30 PM.

The ceremony will involve the planting of a Caliper Pin Oak donated by Covanta and 200 additional bare root saplings consisting of 25 each of Flowering Dogwood, Highbush Cranberry, Buttonbush, Ninebark, Black Chokeberry, Virginia Rose, Witch Hazel, and Winterberry donated anonymously to the Town of Huntington to commemorate Arbor Day; the Town Board accepted the donations at their April 12 meeting.
Girl Scouts from Service Unit 12, Boy Scouts from Troop 34, and Cub Scouts from Pack 406 will join the ceremony along with students from the Huntington High School Honor Society to help plant additional bare root saplings at the park.
Town of Smithtown Holds 2022 Arbor Day Tree Planting at Cy Donnelly Park

In celebration of Arbor Day, the Town of Smithtown will host a ceremonial tree planting with young elementary students from Park View Elementary. The Town of Smithtown, with help from young Park View Elementary Students will plant a Saw Tooth Oak Tree as this year’s Arbor Day Tree.
Each year, the department of Environment and Waterways hosts a ceremonial tree planting in celebration of Arbor Day.
Arbor Day is often celebrated as a day to promote education and awareness on the importance of trees in the community. The Town of Smithtown has maintained its reputation as Tree City, USA for over 35 years, in addition to recent efforts to begin a street tree census, and to identify invasive species.
