(AP) - Two men who used a plumbing snake tobrutally attack a developmentally disabled handyman at a LongIsland bowling alley were sentenced today to long prison terms.
Nineteen-year-old Steven Rodriguez pleaded guilty last month toattempted predatory sexual assault and aggravated sexual abuse.
Rodriguez and Michael Lunsford, both from Shirley, were arrestedlast year after assaulting the 21-year-old man.
A State Supreme Court Judge sentenced Rodriguez to 20 years inprison and five years probation. Rodriguez will be required toregister as a certified sex offender when he's freed.
They forced the plumbing snake, which is used to unclog drains,into the worker's rectum and spun it, causing him internalinjuries.
The victim's mother said her son no longer works at the bowlingalley, but is moving forward.
Lunsford, who's 17, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault afteradmitting he held the victim down, received a sentence of 16 yearsin prison and five years probation. He also must register as a sexoffender.
