Officials say two alleged MS-13 gang members have pleaded guilty to separate murder and attempted murder charges.
They say 26-year-old Ronald Catalan, of Brentwood, pleaded guilty Monday to the attempted murder of three rival gang members. His trial was supposed to start today.
According to police, Catalan had been a leader of the Brentwood MS-13 clique.
They say Jerlin Villalta, of Brentwood, also pleaded guilty Monday for the murder of 18-year-old Jose Pena.
As News 12 Long Island has reported, Pena's remains were discovered in a wooded area at the Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center in Brentwood in 2016.
Officials say Villalta was a member of the Freeport MS-13 clique.
Both Catalan and Villalta face up to life in prison when they are sentenced.
