Police say two men are safe after their plane crashed in the Long Island Sound on Sunday.
Police tell News 12 the plane took off from MacArthur Airport heading to Calverton, but went down in the water off Shoreham around 1:30 p.m.
The two people on board were the pilot Inderpal Chhabra, of Woodbury, and his passenger David Tobachnik, of Coram.
The men were able to climb out of the plane and hang onto a rock until help arrived.
The pilot says engine failure is to blame for the crash.
