2 men accused of trying to steal $6,500 in phone scam

According to police, a 74-year-old man who lives out of state was called last week and told his son needed $6,500 for bail.

Police say two Nassau County men have been arrested and are accused of trying to scam thousands of dollars from a senior citizen.
According to police, a 74-year-old man who lives out of state was called last week and told his son needed $6,500 for bail. The man became suspicious and called police.
Police coordinated with UPS security and had the man ship the cash to the UPS facility in Uniondale.
Police say Tyshawn Redford, of Roslyn Heights, and Keyshawn Coveal, of Hempstead, arrived to pick it up around 11 a.m. Tuesday. They were arrested shortly after.
