The fire broke out at a barn just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, and while 58 horses were safely evacuated, two did not make it.

Two horses have died following a fire at Belmont Park Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out at a barn just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, and while 58 horses were safely evacuated, two did not make it.
The New York Racing Association says the fire was contained to one barn. The Elmont, Valley Stream and Floral Park fire departments contained the scene in minutes, according to the NYRA.
Police say three male employees suffered minor smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
