Three people, including two firefighters, were injured after an early morning house fire in Central Islip on Sunday.

The flames sparked around 2:15 a.m. at a home on Bushwick Avenue.

Adonai Ramirez, who lives in the house with six family members, says the sound of their smoke alarm saved her family from the fast-moving fire. She says everyone managed to escape before flames consumed their home. 

However, due to the intensity, two firefighters and Ramirez' 67-year-old grandmother, Maria Burgos, were all rushed to the hospital.

Burgos suffers from asthma and was having trouble breathing, and she was released a few hours later.

Officials say one firefighter had to be airlifted to Stony Brook University's burn center. The other was taken there by ambulance.

Officials said they hoped one of them was released by Sunday, and that the other firefighter will be released in a few days.

Firefighters say this home is a total loss, but Ramirez says she's just thankful the outcome wasn't worse.

Ramirez says she believes the fire was electrical, but the fire marshal and arson investigators are still looking into the exact cause.
