West Islip Union Free School District officials announced the names of the two schools that would be closing at a packed meeting last night.
Kirdahy and Westbrook elementary schools will shut their doors for good in June, in hopes of closing the district's $6 million budget gap.
The move, which will save the school district $3 million, will send nearly 700 kids to other schools, while laying off 10 to 15 teachers.
Enrollment is expected to increase at remaining schools by 40 percent.
