Police say they have arrested two suspects who opened fire on five anti-crime detectives outside a Chinese restaurant near East 184th Street in the Bronx Monday night.
Police say Jason Polanco and Joshua Kemp robbed a deli just moments before the incident.
The wounded officers have been identified as 30-year-old Andrew Dossi and 38-year-old Aliro Pellerano, both from Rockland County. They were off-duty and working as part of a plain clothes anti-crime unit out of the 46th Precinct when they were wounded in Fordham at around 10:30 p.m.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton says Polanco carjacked a Camaro and fled the scene, but the public helped them find their suspect.
"In a very short period of time...29 tips came in, 10 of which actually identified the suspect that we subsequently found and arrested this morning," said Bratton during a news conference.
Kemp suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was arrested after going to the hospital. Detectives Andrew Dossi and Aliro Pellerano were both shot twice and are now in stable condition.
The shooting comes weeks after Detective Rafael Ramos and Detective Wenjian Liu were fatally shot by a gunman in Brooklyn.
