More than a dozen bartenders, managers and an owner were arrested in connection with an undercover operation that targeted underage drinking at an Island Park venue.
Nassau County police say 16 people connected with Warehouse 5 on Waterfront Boulevard were arrested after underage people were able to purchase alcohol from bartenders early Wednesday morning.
Police say owner John Vitale, 61, is among the 16 people who were arrested. He was charged with the improper posting of a license, prohibited sale of alcoholic beverages, unlawful dealings with a child, failure to maintain books and more.
The employees, who were charged with prohibited sale of alcoholic beverages and unlawful dealings with a child, range in age from 18 to 60.
The suspects have been released from custody, and are expected to appear in court Aug. 12.
A stop-work sign now sits outside the business. The order cites Warehouse 5 for failure to pay workers compensation.
