Police are investigating a deadly car crash in East Meadow.Officials say the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on Merrick Avenue. Police say 55-year-old Nancy Adler, of Syosset, was killed when her car collided with another vehicle containing two teenage brothers and their friend. The teens were on their way to get ice cream at the time of the accident.
One of the brothers is in critical condition, but the boy's father, Ibrahim Jajhab, says he is hopeful he will recover. The accident is the second fatal accident to occur on the street this summer. Residents say speeding is often a problem in the area and may be responsible for the accident.
Police say they will look into whether the stretch of road needs more speed enforcment and will install a speed trailer that tells drivers how fast they are going.
