Police have arrested a suspect believed to be involved in a shooting in Long Beach early Tuesday morning.
Police say one man was shot at the corner of Wisconsin and West Beach streets at 4:18 a.m.
Hours later, Long Beach authorities say they found the alleged shooter in his apartment just a few blocks away from the crime scene.
Brian Kelly, 28, peacefully surrendered at around 10 a.m. after speaking with police negotiators. Neighbors say he is a former Marine who served in the Middle East.
Police say they do not have a motive for the shooting. The victim is recovering from his injuries at Nassau University Medical Center.
Police say they will be charging Kelly with attempted murder and weapons charges.
