More than 150 people came out to UConn's Stamford Campus to celebrate the Lunar New Year with the Chinese Language School of Connecticut.
This year is the Year of the Rabbit.
"Those born during the Year of the Rabbit is someone very maternal, very nurturing, very gentle, very kind," says Katy Myers, a teacher at the school.
It's the first time since the pandemic the Chinese Language School of Connecticut is hosting Lunar New Year festivities. The school says they pride themselves on giving students authentic experiences.
"To know that our ancestors did the same thing for over 4,700 years, is a great feeling," says Myers.
From hands on activities, to the traditional dancing, and the authentic local food, teachers from the school say celebrations are all about welcoming the next season together.
"Supposedly, this is the first day of the springtime," explains principal of the school Yajuan Zhang.
