A Wyandanch teenager is in stable condition after being shot while riding his bicycle Wednesday.
Joseph Jenkins, 17, was shot by another man on a bicycle, according to police. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m.
The teenager told police he began to pedal faster after seeing the other rider reach into his waistband. As he tried to ride to safety, Jenkins was shot in the back and fell off his bike. The shooting took occurred outside of Jenkin's house.
Jenkins was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
Police believe the bullet came from a small caliber gun. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
