A World War II veteran and former FDNY lieutenant is celebrating a major milestone.
John Dooley, of Patchogue, turned 100 years old Wednesday, marking a century of life and decades of service to others.
Dooley served in World War II before beginning a 37-year career with the FDNY.
His firefighter family and friends gathered at Buoy Bar in Point Lookout on Thursday to celebrate his birthday and honor his life of service.
Dooley was also presented with a plaque during the celebration.
The gathering gave those who served alongside Dooley the opportunity to celebrate his remarkable milestone and thank him for a lifetime of service.
