A Hempstead man was arrested by Nassau County police after robbing a BP Gas Station in Rockville Centre.

Police say Saifuddin Abdus-Samad went into the business on Sunrise Highway around 3:45 a.m. Sept. 14.

Officials say he demanded cash from the register but the 64-year-old employee refused to hand it over.

Abdus-Samad is then accused of hitting the employee in the face with a knife and giving the man a laceration, taking the money himself and leaving.

The employee was taken to the hospital.

Adbus-Samad was located and arrested on Wednesday in Long Beach.

He is charged with two counts of robbery and one count assault.
