The woman who accused three Duke lacrosse players of rape, including one from Long Island, admitted on a podcast this week that she made it all up.
Crystal Mangum made the accusations against Collin Finnerty, a Chaminade graduate from Garden City, and two other players, back in 2006.
The story gained national attention.
“I made up a story that wasn’t true because I wanted validation from people.” says Mangum now.
Charges were dismissed against all three players.
She's currently in prison for a murder conviction in an unrelated case.
