A woman was stabbed Sunday night in a busy stretch of Farmingdale lined with restaurants and bars, according to Nassau County police.
Police say a 45-year-old woman was attacked near the intersection of Main and South Front streets around 6:30 p.m.
Authorities allege 49-year-old Todd McGee punched the woman and stabbed her twice in the chest and shoulder area with an unknown object. The incident happened during the dinner hour, when the area was filled with people out for the evening.
Brandon Christi, manager of ZuZu Pizza, said customers at his restaurant watched out the windows as police closed down the area.
“It was definitely surprising. There are people walking down the street all the time and you don’t expect things like that to happen, he said. "I wasn't expecting that when I saw all the cop cars, that’s for sure.”
Police say McGee was located nearby and taken into custody. Investigators have not yet said what led up to the attack.
McGee was arraigned Monday morning. His case was adjourned to Wednesday.
