A woman was killed Christmas morning after a fire ripped through her Selden apartment.
Firefighters received a call at around 1:30 a.m. about the fire at St. Joseph's Village Apartment Complex on Boyle Road. A visitor was seen desperately trying to get inside as firefighters arrived, but could not budge down the door. The victim has been identified as Marie Mahoney, 69, who worked as a substitute teacher for BOCES, according to Newsday.
The fire was contained to Mahoney's apartment and investigators say they still do not know what caused the fire.
