One woman is dead and two men are fighting for their lives after a late-night house fire in Lindenhurst.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the blaze at 8 Storz Place that started around 11:11 p.m. Thursday.
Police and first responders rushed into the home and pulled three people out of the burning building.
The Copiague Fire Department pronounced the woman, who has not been identified, dead at the scene. Investigators said the Suffolk County Medical Examiner is working on an autopsy to determine her identity and cause of death.
Two men, who have also not been identified, were taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip and then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
Two First Precinct patrol officers were also taken to Good Samaritan to be treated for smoke inhalation but have since been released.
Officials said no one else was in the home during the fire and they reported no other injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be criminal at this time.
This is the latest in a week of serious fires on Long Island where the cold and windy conditions may have played a role.
