Police say a woman driving on the Sunrise Highway service road in East Patchogue died after rear-ending a parked school bus.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police say Jennifer Dowling, 38, was driving her SUV eastbound on the service road when she struck the full-size bus that was parked on the shoulder near Washington Avenue.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Only the bus driver was on the bus at the time of the incident. That driver was uninjured.
