A visit to a mall bathroom in Huntington Station was anything but ordinary for a peeping Tom victim Tuesday.
Det. Sgt. Richard Asupaker of the Suffolk County Police Department said 29-year-old Jorge Mendez waited in a women's restroom stall at the Walt Whitman Mall. According to Asupaker, Mendez then stuck his camera-equipped cell phone under the divider in an attempt to photograph a woman.
Asupaker said Mendez's alleged victim noticed the phone, and didn't react mildly. "[She] exited the stall and she started screaming and she chased this subject outside into the mall area," Asupaker said.
It was there that a mall security guard apprehended Mendez. Because the woman was in a public area, police said it was appropriate for her to chase the subject.
