A Queens woman admitted to News 12 Wednesday that she was high on marijuana before she slammed her car into a Nassau County police cruiser – injuring two officers inside.
According to investigators, the two officers were making a routine traffic stop on Burnside Avenue in Inwood shortly before 11 p.m. That's when they say an out-of-control vehicle suddenly rear-ended their patrol car.
Marsha Ellis, 34, of Rosedale, was pulled from her 2014 Audi by the two officers after it went up in flames. The officers were treated and released for injuries that were not life-threatening.
When asked by reporter Kevin Vesey “What were you high on?” she responded by saying, “marijuana.” Police say a bag of marijuana was found in Ellis' jacket.
A judge suspended Ellis’ license in court Wednesday. She was also accused of stealing an iPhone 10 from the Best Buy at the Green Acres Mall.
Her bond was set at $100,000.
