Advocates are working to protect Long Island's homeless population as winter approaches.
The 30th annual Keys for the Homeless Conference was held Thursday in Central Islip to address the needs of the homeless.
Groups that deal with mental health, veterans and more contributed to the conference.
Organizers say the Island's homeless population has decreased over the last two years.
