Wednesday's heavy rains caused street flooding, especially in Nassau County communities.
Police shut down Herricks Road at Hillside Avenue for a few hours this morning because of water that had risen to knee-high levels.
Several cars that decided to try driving through ended up stuck and had to be pulled out by a tow truck.
In Woodmere, a homeowner says the heavy downpour created a sinkhole in his yard. The sinkhole damaged his lawn and part of his walkway.
