Neighbors in Fort Salonga woke up Monday to discover their cars were stolen.
At least three cars were taken straight out of the driveways of the car owners.
“I’m sitting here looking and I say ‘Where’s my car?’” says Tim Daly.
A 2020 BMW from Hastings Drive, a 2019 Acura on Linwood Lane and a 2009 Audi from Breezy Hill Drive were caught being stolen on Daly’s Ring surveillance video.
Daly says four minutes before he took the garbage out, somebody grabbed the car, backed it out of the driveway and followed two other cars north of Woodfield.
Suffolk police say all of the thefts involved a key fob inside the cars that use a keyless start.
The car owners believe that the car thefts were well organized.
Craig Fauth reported his car stolen to Suffolk police and police tracked it down around four hours later.
“It was brought all the way to New Jersey,” Fauth says. “It was close to the shipping docks, so it was going to go into a container.”
The other two cars have not been recovered.
Police are urging car owners to keep anything valuable in their cars especially their keys or key fobs.
Anyone with any information on the thefts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
