Weston High School dismissed students early Thursday due to an unsubstantiated threat, police say.

Police were contacted by Weston, Massachusetts police around 10:30 a.m. about a threat made on social media.

An investigation found that the post targeted Weston High School in Connecticut and a specific staff member was named in the threat.

The FBI was contacted and the school was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Only the high school dismissed early.

Police and bomb squad units from neighboring communities searched the school, which was deemed safe.

Officers did not find anything to suggest students or staff were in danger.

Police say they were impressed with how the school community handled the situation.

"Hats off to the students not only of the Weston High school, but Weston Middle School. The evacuation procedure was amazing, we didn't have any hysteria, students were calm orderly and respectful. They took direction very well I think its hats off to school administration team and the way things were handled," says captain Joe Miceli.

The school was opened Thursday night for athletic practices and games, along with play rehearsal.

The school will open normally on Friday.
