Westbury residents who live near the Taco Bell on Old Country Road say they've had enough.

Neighbors who live on Manhattan Avenue and Albany Avenue, which are right next to the Taco Bell, say they have many issues with it, including that the late hours for the drive-thru, broken glass and noise.

"The debris is horrendous," says resident Toni Smiles. "They have their trash picked up at 2 a.m., our houses shake. They have deliveries coming in at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. The drive thru, I can hear it from here. The voice, 'Taco Bell, can I help you?' We all just jump up." "There's loud, blaring radio, especially in the summer. Windows are down and just a safety hazard for everyone in the neighborhood," says resident Kathleen Smith.

Some are urging the Village Board of Trustees not to renew a special-use permit for the restaurant, allowing dine-in services until 11 p.m. and the drive-thru until 2 a.m.

At the meeting last week, village officials said the applicant was supposed to reapply to the board in 2018, but did not.

Officials say they have cited three complaints with three notices of violation written, including a noisy loud speaker, garbage up against the fence, and not clearing snow.

Nassau police say last year they responded to that location 20 times for nuisance calls.     News 12 reached out to both Taco Bell and the attorney representing them at the Board of Trustees meeting.

The attorney told News 12 he would let us know if his client was available or send a statement but we didn't hear back after that.

News 12 also didn't hear back from Taco Bell. "Garbage everywhere blows on our property and it's lowering the value of the actual life that we had hoped for," says Smith. Village officials say it's still pending before the Board of Trustees. It'll be discussed at the next meeting on Feb. 5.
