The state Department of Transportation says the westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway have reopened at Exit 61 after a tractor-trailer damaged a bridge early this morning.
The damage occurred around 4:30 a.m.
The DOT says it performed emergency repairs to stabilize the Patchogue-Holbrook Road Bridge.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, but was issued two tickets.
State police had originally planned to close the roadway until 8 a.m. Thursday while they assessed the damage to the bridge.
